Vacation…Day 2

Posted: November 23, 2009 in Uncategorized

Had the great opportunity to cruise the waterways of Destin, FL on a phenomenal 24 foot fishing boat.  Nothing like being in a fast boat when it is opened up — it’s a thrill.  Met our girls for lunch and then headed over for drinks to a local favorite spot creatively called Helen Back.

While there we watched a number of boats dock beside ours.  Candis insisted that Jack help them with their lines as they pulled into the slips.  A sort of nautical “pay it forward”.  Her reasoning was that one day, we may need help with our lines when docking.

When we’re busy and occupied with our own navigation, we sometimes neglect to realize that it may not be the navigation of our success we need help with, but in safely and securely docking during the journey.  Help those docking with their lines and others will one day help you when you need it.

A lending hand garners far more on water and on land than we realize.  Be the lending hand that appears when it is least expected.

You never know who you’ll run into when you’ve been to Helen Back.
